HSGTO Attendance Policy
We strive to create an orchestral experience for our students that is musically rewarding and challenging. In order to achieve this, it is important for all involved to exhibit commitment to rehearsal attendance, integrity in music preparation, and proper rehearsal etiquette. With this in mind, we would like to provide a clear attendance policy to ensure a success for the orchestra as a whole.
1. Attendance at all rehearsals is mandatory.
2. If you must miss a rehearsal due to one of the reasons mentioned below, you must communicate via email that you will be absent and the reason why you will be absent.
----a. Absence due to college visits and other pre-approved activities must be communicated via email two weeks in advance of the absence.
----b. Absence due to illness or emergency should be communicated via email before rehearsal begins.
----c. Missing more than three rehearsals for any reason will be cause for review and may result in dismissal from the orchestra.
3. ANY unexcused and/or non-communicated absence will be cause for review and may result in dismissal from the orchestra.
4. Tardiness will count as ½ of an unexcused absence. Attendance will be taken during tuning at 6:30PM. If you arrive after tuning begins you will be considered late. All students should plan to arrive at 6:15PM to properly warm-up before rehearsal; therefore, if you encounter traffic issues, you should still arrive by 6:30 PM and you will be on time.
It is our expectation that all students will abide by these guidelines, thus creating a more positive and productive musical experience for everyone.
